Usability Engineer
Full Time Contractor position – Month-to Month
Seeking a highly motivated usability engineer to play a key role in defining the user experience of Gateway.com and related corporate Web properties. This role requires a creative, logical, problem solver that can conduct usability studies and analysis throughout the application development process while assuring site experience satisfies the customer expectation for utility and ease of use as well as supporting associated business goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Understand and practice principles and methodologies of user-centered design
Conduct usability studies including formal and semi-formal usability testing, and card sorting activities including the design and execution of paper and live questionnaires and interviews
Create and run web questionnaires to elicit user feedback
Identify users in detail including demographics and psychographic characteristics
Conduct user experiential studies including user profiling, metal modeling, and contextual task analysis
Analyze usability data, create usability reports, and present detailed and high-level findings
While building strong relationships with key business stakeholders, candidate must have the flexibility to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, and accommodate demanding project schedules.
In addition to general administrative duties, candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with proven team and project coordination abilities. A self-starter, resourceful individual that can analyze complex problems quickly and methodically; must be well-versed and industry experienced in usability techniques and subsequent design and software programs.
Job Requirements:
· 6-8 years experience in usability engineering following a UCD methodology with a solid understanding of UI design and information architecture.
Must thrive in a challenging and intense work environment with ability to drive process change, innovation, and effectively execute, delivering high-quality results in a timely manner.
Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in relevant field including Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Information Architecture or Human Factors
