Position Title: Senior Information Architect
Company: K12 Inc.
Location: McLean, VA
Description:
Lead the analysis, definition and design of the business systems functionality and vision. Utilize user-centered methodology to arrive at cohesive organization systems, elegant navigation systems, and effective
labeling and search systems. With closely with multidisciplinary team to
develop launch plans and phased-development approach.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct interviews and formulate functional requirements.
* Analysis, synthesis and prioritize requirements with team; present and document requirements for consensus and sign off.
* Craft visual representation of large systems, complex relationships, data and task flow for team clarification and consensus
* Employ a user-centered methodology to develop a functional vision and implementation plan of the product
* Coordinate with fellow team members to ensure product remains true to stated goals of functional design throughout development of product.
* Deliver solution approach through blueprints, wireframes, interactive prototypes and specifications
Qualifications:
* Ability to communicate effectively with members of a diverse multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to keep the vision in mind while attending to the details required for organization structure and day-to-day problem solving.
* Must be highly creative, technically savvy, self-motivated, conceptual thinker.
* Extensive understanding of innovative graphical user interface design, information design, and interactive design, and in particular experience in designing templates for database-driven dynamic content.
* Solid understanding of and experience with web technologies including both front end and back end applications.
* Excellent written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills.
* Highly desirable: Experience with design for ecommerce, search systems, inventory management, or content management systems.
Education:
BA or MA in human-computer interactions, information or library science, product design or related fields.
Work Experience:
Eight plus years experience in one or more of the following areas:
information design, interaction design, user interface design, and business process analysis or software application design. Exerience with ecommerce and portal design highly desired.

Technical Skills:
* Adept with relevant design and information flow software including Visio, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, CSS, HTML development.
* Familiarity with database design, enterprise relationship diagrams, software lifecycle processes, and business processes.

Show samples of implemented online work and problem solving. Please be prepared to speak about the processes you used to develop these sites and your specific role in the development of each site.
