Vacancy: Web Designer with usability and prototyping skills

We are seeking an experienced (at least 3 years) Web Designer to help design and specify an Extranet service which will form part of a high profile NHS-wide project. This is an exciting opportunity to develop an Extranet from scratch that brings together a range of different professionals in the NHS in a learning environment. The position is a contract post for one month, based in the agency's head office in central London. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of designing and specifying usable and accessible websites and prototyping them in either HTML or using visual illustrations. Particular experience of delivering W3C WAI compliant websites and meeting government and NHS web standards is desirable but not essential.
More specifically, the candidate will be required to:
- Bring several sources of content together to form a coherent site
- Assimilate information about users
- Design the extranet's structure, functionality, content layout, and graphic design
- Document the design and functionality using a site map, wireframes/screen shots and use cases
- Deliver a prototype in either HTML or using visual illustrations (e.g. using Illustrator)
The candidate will:
- Be available to start immediately
- Be based at our office in central London
- Be able to work on their own with little management
- Be able to use their initiative to drive work forward
- Be confident liaising with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Conform to NPSA dress code (Business attire)
- Have strong written and oral language skills
