Source: Direct Submission

Company: InContext Enterprises
Position: User Researcher -- Work Practice Designer
Location: Concord, MA, USA
Full-Time

Do you have a background in user research, human factors, usability, process design, technical writing, or user experience and been looking for a chance to work directly in the field with end users to design products or systems?
Are you tired of giving lip service to user-centered design and want to do it for real? This is your chance. InContext Enterprises - the company that created Contextual Design, the full front-end, customer-centered design process - is looking for design team members who will work on a wide variety of client projects, ranging from applications and hardware devices to websites and internal systems.

At InContext you're not just a user researcher; you're a work practice designer who participates in the full design process - from requirements to interaction design. Work practice designers must be able to capture and understand how people work on a daily basis, and to see the design and business implications of these work practices for technology products or systems. Work practice designers work as members of our cross-functional design team, participating in all phases of the Contextual Design process:
field interviews with end users, data interpretation and work modeling, visioning, storyboarding, system design, and paper and proof-of-concept prototyping. They also serve as the project leader for the team.

Our work practice designers must be able to clearly communicate your ideas and be willing to collaborate with others in producing an innovative and practical design that both improves the life or work of the end users and meets the business needs of our client. You should be familiar with emerging technologies and how these technologies can be exploited to transform work practices. You must be creative, and able to generate out-of-the box solutions.
