HOT CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

Volt Services Group is currently recruiting candidates for an EXCITING and CHALLENGING CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY open in Atlanta, GA. This position is with a well known government contractor providing technical services to major US agencies. The anticipated duration of this project is approximately 4 months, initially with up to 6 one year extensions available.

This role is needed to provide support to the Health Communications Branch of the CDC's Office on Smoking and Health (OSH). This individual will work with scientists, public health educators, and other professionals and will provide additional support to the existing Web team to manage the OSH’S growing Web site development and maintenance needs. The candidate should be knowledgeable of technical aspects of Web pages, be able to coordinate the work of specialists contracted to handle particular content areas, and be skilled in managing projects so they are completed on schedule. This position requires that the contractor handle multicomponent projects and independently seek guidance as needed. The OSH project lead will provide direction on content and communication objectives in the development and maintenance of the sites.
Tasks include but are not limited to; collaborate with OSH program staff and create HTML documents; Develop mock-ups; Create Web-usable graphics; Utilize current technology; Meet the needs of the audiences of the sites; Consider technical issues in Web page design, including variations in browser capability; Develop information structures for sites, including navigation, content groupings, labels, site maps, etc. that will meet the needs of the various audiences defined by CDC. Information structures must work throughout the sites, be scaled to meet future needs, and enable users to easily find information they are seeking; Perform in a support capacity, reviewing materials posted to OSH Web sites to ensure technical quality, adherence to policies/standards, and 508 compliancy; Ensure that materials have been cleared through the Center clearance process and post cleared materials to production servers; Provide technical assistance to support the Internet and Intranet communications, content management, and development needs of OSH; Perform other tasks as necessary to develop and maintain Web sites and pages that conform to CDC and Center standards.


REQUIREMENTS:
Must have HTML (coding) and CSS skills; Experience with FrontPage and Photoshop. Ability to work independently as well within a team environment; Must possess solid problem-solving skills and be able to balance competing criteria. Excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to interface with the client and content experts as well as with highly technical development and applications staff. Understanding of information architecture concepts; Understanding of how Web pages differ across browsers and platforms; Knowledge of usability, page layout, and navigational structures; Understanding of computer systems and capable of quickly learning emerging Web technologies.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS:
Familiarity with public health issues and terminology. Experience analyzing Web statistics. Ability to monitor site traffic. Experience in information architecture and/or usability.
