About the Company:
Tec-Ed is a 15-person user experience firm, founded in 1967, with headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan--and more than half our client companies in the Bay Area. Your Tec-Ed team members may be based in Ann Arbor, Rochester (NY), Milwaukee (WI), or the Bay Area.
Tec-Ed specializes in user research, user interface design, information architecture and development, and knowledge management. Most of our clients are high-tech companies--we have helped improve the user experience for web-enabled products, websites, business and consumer software, medical and healthcare applications, internetworking products, and information systems and services. We typically have long-term relationships with companies that value high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
* Learn, understand, and respond to client needs for user data and improved user experience
* Develop and execute user research plans for client companies
* Conduct user research projects with a wide variety of methodologies:
contextual inquiry, ethnographic interviews, usability testing, focus groups, participatory design, and more
* Analyze data and report results--independently and collaboratively with other Tec-Ed consultants and with clients
* Build and maintain successful ongoing relationships with client companies
* Contribute to Tec-Ed's planning and decision-making for future business and services
Qualifications:
* Over 7 years of user research experience in a commercial/industry setting
* Over 7 years of project management experience
* Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus
* Experience working in cross-functional teams and with various levels of management
* Successful "multi-tasker" who can work on several projects at once
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
* Ability to travel to Bay Area client sites, with occasional travel outside the Bay Area
* Up to date on research and professional practices in the field
* Commitment to quality work on demanding projects
