UI DESIGNER: VISUAL DESIGN GROUP
Do you know the font size on a screen just by looking at it? Know the hex values of each color out of memory? Cannot stand the thought that one pixel cannot be divided any further?
If so, you may have found your perfect asylum amongst other happy inmates here at projekt202.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a UI designer within the visual design group at projekt202, you must have excellent digital media related visual design skills. You must be up to speed on the latest visual trends and advancements in technology. You will often have to work under tight deadlines and, not to scare you, but you will have to cope with a mean German Creative Director.
Our visual designers help give clients “The Look.” They understand how software products work, what's good, what’s bad, and how to spot UI possibility in what often seems like endless constraints.
REQUIREMENTS:
* 4+ professional years of dedicated visual GUI-design experience, with emphasis on design language creation, screen “layouting”, color composition skills and visual specification design for software applications. If your previous work experience was purely in websites and not traditional software, your visual skills will have to be exceptional. Portfolio to support.
* Experience participating in and leading the visual design stages of software development.
* Ability to work directly with clients, users, project stakeholders and the projekt202 team on numerous deliverables including the creation of mood boards and multiple distinct visual design directions; often iterating upon the solutions, and communicating the details and benefits back to our clients.
* Basic understanding of usability/HCI principles and techniques, especially as related to GUI design for desktop, web and wireless applications.
* Great visual design skills including the ability to establish new innovative look and feels for our clients that are brand conforming and in line with project strategy, the ability to support our UX team with visual solutions to challenging screens, the ability to take wireframes and apply an already established design language, and the ability to build extremely detailed online styleguides that communicate our new designs.
* Ideal candidate will have broad and/or deep knowledge of the capabilities and constraints when designing for these technologies and media: C++, Java, Web technologies (HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, etc.), wireless devices. Please note: This is not a development/coding position. In addition, an ideal candidate will have considerable experience designing for business applications, especially those within ERP, content management, CRM, SCM, retail, and business process management.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Expert in the standard visual design packages, such as the Adobe Suite
* Ability to create mood boards, concepts drawings, texture and color studies
* Understanding of technology limitations that influence design decisions
* Documentation of UI standards and interaction specifications
* Excellent and confident writing skills
* Working knowledge of HTML/DHTML and Flash
* Desire to work in a fast-paced, often intense project environment
* A ridiculous (well, highly mastered) level of attention to detail
* Ability to survive “happy hour” with your mad-partying German boss
JOB LOCATION: Austin, Texas (all candidates must be local)
