User Experience Design Leader, Kodak

OPPORTUNITY:
Eastman Kodak Company, Corporate Design & Usability, is seeking a talented User Experience Design leader who understands the interactive user experience and the power of photography, who thinks creatively and communicates well, who crosses discipline boundaries easily, who is committed to champion the customer, and who loves to see products succeed because of great design. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for information architecture, user experience design, and usability engineering for consumer products, software, and services. Lead strategic design direction, managing a user-centered design process that influences every aspect of customer experience with consumer digital imaging products. Work and communicate effectively with multi-functional, sometimes multi-national, teams representing hardware engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial design, quality assurance, marketing, and business research. Manage a successful commercialization process of user interface design for consumer digital imaging products and desktop software applications. Manage a program of research and development focused on competitive benchmarking evaluation and application of displays and controls technologies for consumer products. Supervise the creation of interactive prototypes for consumer products, desktop software, and web-based imaging applications. Manage a program of usability evaluation and testing, including cognitive walk-through inspections and usability tests in the field and laboratory. Champion design and usability as a core component of Kodak brand presence and customer experience.

PREREQUISITE EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
1. MS, MA, MFA, or PhD in Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or related field.
2. Experience in user interface design and commercialization development for successful consumer digital products.
3. Knowledge of interactive authoring techniques, user-centered design methodologies, and innovation design practices.
4. Professional experience and skill in designing and developing interactive media or graphical user interfaces for desktop software or web-based interactive applications.
5. Experience applying usability evaluation, inspection, and testing tools and methods to conduct behavioral research.
6. Excellent writing, speaking, teamwork, team leadership, negotiation, and project management skills.
7. Experience in design ethnography, digital and traditional photography, and cognitive science.
8. Skill in statistical experimental design and data analysis and interpretation.
9. Practical knowledge about user interface internationalization.
10. Ability to travel.

The position is based at Kodak San Diego Systems Division, a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, product development organization. The position is organized as a satellite of Kodak Corporate Design & Usability in Rochester, NY, a talented, creative, design organization specializing in human factors, human/computer interaction, industrial design, graphics design, new media interaction design, and ethnography.
