Job Description:
Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a Design Communicator/Evangelist to join the Platform Services group within the User Experience & Design (UED) team.
In this position you are expected to foster and support a collaborative, innovative culture, working closely with visual designers, user experience researchers, and technologists across all the various UED teams. This position reports to the manager of Design Communications.

This position will be responsible for creating partnerships across all UED product teams and evangelize the core Yahoo! Design Standards and pattern language. The dc/evangelist is responsible for authoring best practices and guidelines and should have solid experience and understanding of interaction design as well as branding and visual design. The dc/evangelist will also be responsible for educating product teams, engineering teams and other teams across Yahoo! about the goals of creating and practicing use of standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Author best practices and guidelines derived from research and design exploration done across multiple product teams
- Work with user experience researchers to understand research results and translate into usable best practices and guidelines
- Develop and lead a standards review group of cross discipline leaders
- Communicate across multiple types of organizations, must be able to speak to non-designers, designers and engineers and foster collaboration and excitement about following and developing standards

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors, HCI, industrial design, Technical Writing, Communications or related area Ideally 5+ years experience as a key member of an experience design or UI team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web and/or software applications Must be process driven and have a solid understanding of user centered design principles. Demonstrating strong interaction design skills a plus.
Strong writing and documentation skills a must Be an avid practitioner of consistency, minimalism and have a keen design sensitivity Strong communication skills; must communicate clearly and effectively to varying audiences; must be comfortable presenting ideas to large and small audiences; have strong analytical skills; have excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team with the ability to build consensus Organized and able to act independently Works well under pressure and able to meet aggressive deadlines Familiarity with the Windows and Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines a plus Passion for and understanding of design patterns and standards
