Our client is a leading interactive agency which employs a team approach, whereby a Functional Designer partners with Creative, Strategic and Technical personnel to deliver solutions that work for the user, brand, and business, and are technically achievable.
A Functional Designer's role is to focus on the goals and needs of the user as part of that team - whilst being sympathetic to the needs of the brand, business and technical team. A key element of this partnership is that any individual within a team is free to challenge other perspectives, but must also be prepared to have their own views challenged. Finally, unlike an Information Architect (which is part of the role), a Functional Designer is expected to be able to act as a conduit between technical and creative, providing interpretation and advice to both functions.
The role scales from providing consultative advice on smaller campaign sites through to taking the lead on larger "infrastructure"
projects. At all times, a Functional Designer is expected to maintain a focus on user information goals, usability and accessibility. As part of this, individuals will be expected to produce deliverables that may include proposals, rationales, site maps, wireframe schematics, lo-fidelity html prototypes, build documentation, style guides and competitor analyses.
Graduate, with specialisation in HCI or Usability.
Based in London
