Description
DivX is seeking a seasoned UE Designer and information architect with experience designing and prototyping top-notch user interfaces for consumer-based web, desktop, and consumer electronics products. As the UE Designer, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and improve the user experience of our products focusing on information design, navigation, layout, usability, and user interaction.
Job Responsibilities
* Participate in concept development and design ideation as part of an interdisciplinary team including Programming, Design, Community, Quality Assurance and Creative. You must successfully communicate design direction and collaborate with peers and stakeholders to develop and refine the user interface and experience.
* Define the flow and visual shaping of the user interface by capturing user requirements, personas, use-cases, and usability requirements.
* Develop high level and detailed storyboards, wireframe mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design direction.
* Facilitate and conduct usability evaluations through cognitive walkthroughs, heuristic evaluations, usability testing, and focus groups.
* Understand and be able to review usability test feedback and provide recommendations which improve designs.
* Work under pressure to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment to meet aggressive deadlines.
* Work independently to document specifications for your designs that Web Development or Engineering will reference to implement the final end-user interface design. You will be responsible for developing and refining design wireframes, concepts, producing prototypes for evaluation, managing and facilitating the review sessions, writing design specifications, and advocating the designs throughout the implementation process.
* Employ a user-centered approach to all work.
Skills Required
* 3-5 years experience designing for consumer oriented web, desktop, and ce interfaces
* Experience employing a user-centric, iterative design process
* Knowledge of established user interface design principles, best practices and standards
* Advanced proficiency in information layout and visual design
* Proficiency in Photoshop
* Proficiency in Visio and Illustrator a strong plus
* General knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Flash, Visual Basic, QT Designer a plus
* Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines
* Must be able to understand business goals and translate them into intuitive screens
* Experience designing interfaces for the web and multiple platforms
* Must be a solution-minded and independent thinker with good communication skills
* A portfolio or links to a portfolio of examples of work is required
Education
A bachelor's degree in HCI, Multimedia, Visual or Interactive Design is required.
