The Usability Lab at the Census Bureau is looking for Computer Science students to fill intern positions this summer. We are looking for both graduate students and rising seniors. These are paid internships at the Census Bureau's headquarters in Suitland, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area).
Some areas of research we are interested in pursuing:
- using Squeak (www.squeak.org) to access/manipulate/visualize statistical information
- providing access to statistical data through websites that take advantage of hierarchical multidimensional metadata
- data collection with mobile input devices (interaction design, input techniques, etc.)
- user interface complexity and its effect on different user populations
Interested students should contact Juan Pablo Hourcade as soon as possible. Contact through email is preferred. US citizens only.
