Manager of Interface Development

JSTOR (www.jstor.org), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the scholarly community take full advantage of advances in information technology, seeks an energetic and dynamic person as Manager of Interface Development.
JSTOR provides access to an electronic archive of important scholarly journals across a variety of academic disciplines and has offices located in New York and Michigan. JSTOR is a small, distributed, and growing entrepreneurial enterprise that values teamwork and a collegial spirit.
The Manager of Interface Development will be part of the User Services unit, located in Ann Arbor, MI, and will report directly to the Associate Director of User Services, Interface Initiatives. The person in this position will have the responsibility of managing interface development projects as well as managing a group of 3-5 Interface Specialists and Interface Assistants.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Participate in technology projects in the role of User Services project lead, interface developer, or both, depending on the size of the project.
Assign work and projects to Interface Specialists.
Assist Interface Specialists with their projects.
Work very closely with members of JSTORs Technology Services unit to ensure successful implementation of new interface design and functionality.
Write formal requirements for technology projects and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely deliver of the projects.
Research and investigate new options and features for JSTOR to incorporate into the interface.
Ensure that the JSTOR website adheres to web standards, including web accessibility.
Coordinate weekly update meetings for the interface group.
Work with Interface Specialists to help set monthly goals; work with Associate Director to help set annual goals.
Attend conferences, professional meetings, and represent JSTOR in external forums as appropriate.
Required Experience and Skills
Masters in Library Science or equivalent education and experience.
A Bachelors degree is required.
Superior technical aptitude.
Working knowledge of web development standards - XHTML, CSS, web accessibility (W3C-WAI, Section 508).
3-5 years experience in a web-based environment.
Experience managing/supervising at least one person.
Experience managing projects and/or leading teams.
Detail-oriented, experienced in multi-tasking.
Ability to effectively manage time and competing priorities.
