Senior Usability Architect

Job Description:
Provide specialized leadership in usability engineering including planning and executing user-centered activities such as user research (contextual inquiries, field studies, surveys, participatory design sessions), interaction design (design of conceptual model, workflow, information architecture and user interface), and validation (think aloud, heuristic evaluation, user testing).
The usability architect interacts with Product Managers, Visual Designers, Technical Designers, Software Engineers, and Project Managers throughout the development lifecycle to effectively achieve business stakeholders' objectives and meet target audience needs and expectations. Keep abreast of current HCI issues and best practices in electronic commerce and new technologies as well as contribute to the development of electronic commerce and net-centric user experience strategies based on these research activities.
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum three (3) years experience in user-centered design techniques (such as planning, conducting, and summarizing usability studies; analyzing tasks and needs of end users; identifying environmental and competitive factors; articulating users' conceptual models of complex tasks; and/or participating in discount usability methods).
Minimum one (2) year experience in web design.
Advanced degree (MS/MA minimum) in human factors engineering, human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, industrial engineering, or similar field.
Required Skills:
Ability to make strategic and tactical design recommendations based on usability findings and standard design practices.
Must have solid understanding of Web sites and Web application design, and working knowledge of HTML.
Familiarity with the Windows and/or Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines a plus.
Experience determining which user centered design techniques is appropriate throughout the interface development life cycle.
Outstanding analytical, organizational, collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must be able to put ideas into a tangible form.
Must have sound judgment and be able to work without supervision.
Must be able to develop new approaches to complex design problems while meeting aggressive deadlines.
Experience being a mentor to other team members involved in usability and interaction design tasks.
Experience in identifying, evaluating, and recommending technology and marketing strategies to meet user and business needs within scope and budget.
