Sage is looking for a Usability Specialist to fulfil the following role:
Reporting To: Product Development Manager
Special Working Relationships: Product teams, other UI Specialists, Sage customer user-base
Objective:
Based in Newcastle, and working with highly motivated product development teams, you will be the champion of product usability. This will involve working closely with customer users, defining new UI and usability concepts, and style guides, conducting usability labs, and assisting Product Development Managers to ensure conformity across a family of products. This is a senior role, requiring a strong degree of commercial experience, intellect and leadership ability. The candidate must be of practical hands-on nature, in order to take the design through to reality.
You will possess considerable and up to date experience in delivering desktop products to market, and will have distinguished yourself from others in their structured approach to problems.
Responsibilities:
- As usability champion, you will work with product teams, in both a hands-on and consultative role to drive forward new levels of usability across the Sage product range
- Deliver and own the definitive Sage UI style guide
- Thought leadership in relation to UI development within a number of technologies
- Contribute to best practices and high quality design and development of UI-centric software
- Interact with internal and external customers with regards to prototyping and requirements validation
- Consult with a wide range of internal and external resources - especially:
peers from other office locations, product teams, and creative expertise.
Essential Skills:
- An expert with HMI (human machine interface) and usability techniques
- Experience of using Microsoft Windows Design Standards
- 5 years+ relevant commercial experience
