Motorola, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has a permanent, full-time opportunity available for a User-Interface Designer.
We are in need of a world-class, interaction designer to design innovative next generation user-interfaces for wireless and mobile devices. The majority of the interaction design work will be centered on wireless communication products — cell phones, two-way radios, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
- An advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Interface Design or similar relevant topic.
- Demonstrable expertise with multimedia prototyping tools.
- An understanding of human factors issues or the behavioral sciences (demonstrable by training or course-work) will be an advantage.
- Work experience may include UI development for wireless/mobile devices and PC/MAC/Internet applications.
- Some experience in the realm of speech-based user-interfaces will be an advantage.
Responsibilities and Skills
- Translate abstract concepts and ideas - from information obtained from customer research - into low fidelity prototypes (e.g., hand-drawn sketches, PowerPoint simulations) and progressively develop them into high-fidelity Macromedia Director (and similar) prototypes.
- Assist in iterative usability testing of your prototypes throughout the development cycle
- Be self-motivating and take leadership and ownership of the design and development of the user interface.
- Integrate effectively into a multidisciplinary group that includes human factors specialists, cognitive and behavioral scientists, interaction designers, industrial designers, and deliver to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Other Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, artistic and graphical communication skills
- Allied interests in any one or more of the following: art, design, sketching, interactive-technology (games etc.), fashion, human behavior
