Job Description:
The Industrial Design Human Interface Department is seeking a user interface design / human factors professional to support the development of advanced document creation, print management and production publishing software products. The candidate will be part of a cross-functional design team and employ a user-centered design methodology to develop new and derivative user interface designs that run on PC/Windows or Unix computing platforms.
Specific Responsibilities:
„X Working with end-users and product development team
members to gain an understanding of both the user and functional system requirements
„X Conducting competitive benchmarking activities to
determine and provide recommendations regarding best-of-breed designs
„X Applying UI strategies to new and derivative
designs solutions
„X Conducting task analyses / workflow analyses of
existing and emerging user work practices
„X Conducting heuristic evaluations of systems and
designs
„X Creating conceptual designs and storyboards
„X Creating flow diagrams, logical models, screen
layouts and prototypes using tools such as Visual Basic / Studio, Director, Flash and Photoshop.
„X Planning and/or conducting usability tests on user
interfaces
„X Creating and maintaining user interface design
specifications
Job Experience and Requirements:
Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience designing graphical user interfaces for either standard computing platforms or web applications. Candidates should have at least a B.A. / B.S. in Human Factors, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Computer Interaction or related field.
Personal Requirements:
The user interface designer candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a demonstrated ability to work with a cross-functional team. The candidate must have a record that demonstrates initiative, organization, strong work ethic and persuasiveness.
