JOB DESCRIPTION:
Usability Architects, Inc., is assisting a client in the Portland, Oregon, area in locating a Usability Engineering Manager to lead a corporate usability engineering group.
As the Usability Engineering Manager, you will manage and direct a team of full-time usability engineers in conjunction with external usability resources. You will partner with product managers and with product line usability architects to define project process, goals and directions for integrating usability engineering into the development lifecycle and meeting customer needs.
You will provide vision for growing and maturing usability engineering practice throughout the organization with a primary focus on strengthening product usability. You will propose initiatives and institute benchmarks for process improvement. You will locate and organize usability and design talent and integrate it with the engineering activity to create superior products.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and proven engineering capabilities. They will have in-depth experience and a solid foundation in usability engineering and product development. They will have had experience successfully managing usability personnel working in a distributed environment. They will have excellent teamwork skills with an ability to establish measurable objectives to guide diverse and distributed team members toward common goals.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
A minimum of five years of successful experience in usability engineering is a must along with in-depth knowledge of the theory and practice of usability engineering, human-computer interaction, and/or human factors. Strong project management, team leadership, and analytical skills, as well as communication and influencing skills. A Masters or equivalent experience in Human Factors or Usability Engineering required.
