Information Architect, Moment

Jul 19 05

Source: experience design

I hope this message finds you all well... We're looking for an Information Architect. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please send us a resume (PDF, Word File, etc.) at jobs at momentnyc dot com.

Information architects at Moment are responsible for analyzing business and user requirements, defining functionality, interaction model, navigation and task flow, and specifying user interface elements for web sites, software applications, and mobile devices.
Think function, structure, and interaction not visual design.

In order to be a fit for this opening, you must:
- have 2–4 years information architecture, interaction, or interface design experience translating business and user requirements into usable systems
- be systematic in your approach to problem solving
- be detail-oriented in execution (wireframe like a champ)
- be able to convincingly communicate the rationale behind your ideas
- have experience working with technical teams through implementation
- have a point of view about design
- like to work collaboratively

and you should:
- be comfortable facilitating team work sessions
- follow the latest thinking on Design and know who to look to for good advice
- believe that involving users in the design process improves the end product
- have experience conducting user research and analyzing the results
- know what personas and scenarios are and not be afraid to use them
- be a whiz with the entire Adobe Creative Suite
- know when to listen to Jakob Nielsen and when to ignore him

It certainly wouldn't hurt if you:
- like working on complex problems and with well-known brands
- have an advanced degree in a related field
- like to tinker with front-end technologies (XHTML, Flash, ActionScript, JavaScript, DHTML, CSS, etc.) and are able to hand code a prototype
- know who said "Innovate as a last resort" and why it's ironic coming from that person
- have a good MP3 collection
- know the correct use of en and em dashes, curly quotes, apostrophes and primes, and what to do about widows, orphans, and hanging punctuation
- get how "Understanding Comics," "How Buildings Learn," and "The Elements of Style" apply to interaction design
