Information Architect (permanent) - Opodo

Opodo is a leading Pan-European online travel portal, headquartered in riverside offices in Hammersmith. Opodo is owned by Amadeus, a GDS and travel industry technology provider, and nine of Europe’s leading airlines.
Job Purpose:
Create the information architecture for the evolution of Opodo’s online travel application and implement various changes to enhance our site. The successful candidate will encompass a range of disciplines, usability, copy, accessibility, some localisation and globalisation, as well as site structure and navigation schemes. Travel experience beneficial. You will have at least 3 to 5 years relevant work experience and 2 years as an IA or in a very similar role.
Responsibilities:
- Understand Business Requirements
- Work with the Business Analyst to define the design implications coming from the business requirements.
- Use diagrams and schematics (screen and process flows, wireframes, paper prototypes) to clarify areas of uncertainty.
- Draft design briefs (i.e. an outline of the impact to the information architecture and the graphic design, and detail of upcoming tasks).
- Create wireframes, screenflow diagrams and User Interface Documentation.
- Draft documentation that will be used to sign off on the exact functionality and user interface changes.
- Define the low level scope with a technical architect, based on the wireframes.
- Support drafting of screen comps and functional specifications
- Work with graphic designers to translate wireframes into final screen designs.
- Assist with the definition of low-level interaction and the functional details for a functional specification, which will be used by the tech team in implementation.
- Implementation support
- Ongoing QA to ensure implementation reflects the business requirements and design documentation.
- Respond to tech team requests for additional clarification on documentation and/or unforeseen problems with the specified design.
- Ongoing Information Architecture support
- Maintain a holistic and detailed view of the design for the entire site.
- Create and maintain the documentation for the user interface.
- Ensure consistency in interaction design, naming systems, navigational elements.
- Evolve the information design in response to the demands.
Person Specification:
- Educated to degree level.
- Management experience.
- Online technology background.
- High level of understanding of business processes.
- Strong background in information design (layout and forms design), interaction design (navigational systems) and usability.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Experience of usability testing.
- Good understanding of accessibility issues.
- Ecommerce and online travel experience, specifically booking processes, preferred.
