Position Description: You will be responsible for defining and leading user research for future authentication products including knowledge-based authentication systems. You’ll perform broad research on how various types of personal knowledge may be useful for authentication systems. You'll develop research plans that include field studies, user technology evaluations, usability studies, quantitative studies, and basic research. You'll need to discover new areas of user needs and behavior, recognizing new opportunities for products and services. Responsibilities include: Planning, conducting and managing a basic research function that identifies human needs, limitations and performance characteristics. Add value by working with a small team of researchers to create future solutions that advance the customer experience while also providing improved security. Conducting user research using methods such as: ethnographic field studies, usability studies, benchmark studies, competitive evaluations, participatory design sessions, user surveys, heuristic evaluations, and similar approaches. Working closely with researchers, engineers, product managers, and other user experience designers to define and improve the user experience of RSA Security authentication products, including knowledge-based authentication systems. Synthesizing research findings from other data sources (including market research and data mining) and with other team members to produce meaningful recommendations and actionable items.
Qualifications: Education requirements include either an MA/MS or PhD in human factors, psychology or highly related field, OR a BA/BS in one of the above fields with significant industry experience. Security industry experience is a plus.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies is a must. Additional, hands-on experience in a secondary field such as interaction design, industrial design, software engineering, etc. is highly desired.
Experience generating research plans, defining and tracking user experience metrics. Solid knowledge of the field of human-computer interaction, experimental design, observational and field methods and data analysis is required.
Strong written and oral communication skills are a must.
Must be innovative, demonstrate an ability to "think out of the box", and be passionate about improving our customers’ user experiences.
At least 3-5 years of experience in the software industry conducting user research using various methods and working successfully with product teams to drive application of results into products.
Experience researching user needs throughout the entire product development cycle. Must be skilled at conducting upfront research early in the product development process, with a proven record of guiding product direction and strategy.
Experience working within cross-functional teams and various levels of management. Ability to work with external consultants, such as psychologists, as needed
