Usability Specialist
Homestore, Inc. is a leading supplier of media and technology solutions that promote and connect Real Estate Professionals to consumers before, during and after a move. We offer users a convenient, one-stop source for Everything Home on the Internet including the most comprehensive online database of property listings and real estate service providers, virtual tours, photos, resources, advice, decision support tools, and much more.
We are seeking a Usability Specialist to join our User Experience group. Help take Homestore in an exciting new direction, working with the product development team on new initiatives!
Position Responsibilities:
* Responsible for user research planning and execution: usability testing, contextual inquiry, task analysis, field studies, heuristic analysis and card sorting.
* Creates participant screeners and usability test plans, works with a third party recruiter to manage test subject recruitment.
* Conducts usability studies: acts as a note-taker, observer or facilitator in all usability test sessions.
* Presents usability study results and makes usability recommendations to project teams throughout product development cycle.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
* At least 1-2 years experience in conducting user experience research using multiple research methods.
* Experience researching user needs throughout the entire product development cycle: Must be skilled at conducting research early in the product development process, with a proven record of informing the product direction and strategy.
* Must be organized, able to act independently, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Previous experience with information architecture, UI design or ethnographic research is a plus.
* Experience working with high-traffic consumer websites or e-commerce sites is also preferred.
