Job description:
As a member of the Engineering team, the User Experience Engineer will provide portal and web site user interfaces and page design expertise from brainstorming through development while integrating usability testing feedback into final design solutions. You will be working closely with development managers, developers, QA specialists and business project owners.
This is a hands-on position requiring candidates to implement their own solutions after design sessions and management sign-off. While not working on UX solutions, the candidate will be required to work with the engineering team on web development (JSP, Servlets).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Demonstrated experience in designing usable and efficient interfaces
* Work with end users to design most efficient workflow and site map
* Work with managers and users to design graphics and page layouts
REQUIREMENTS
* BS degree in Information Systems, Visual/ Information Design or equivalent degree
* 4+ years professional User Interface and Visual design experience
* Excellent communication skills
* Proficiency with design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks, Dreamweaver; excellent graphic optimization skills
* Extensive knowledge and experience in HTML, XHTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS. Knowledge of back-end technologies such as JSP, SQL, etc.
* Experience with cross-browser/platform web development (Internet Explorer and Netscape)
* Experience with portal platforms in particular BEA Portal
* URLs or design portfolio of at least 4 existing sites with explanation of involvement with UI architecture
