Role

This is your chance to shape the future of model-based design tools in the building industry. As a User Interaction Designer for Autocad Building Systems you will be responsible for interaction design and ongoing usability analysis for an exciting emerging product line. Specifically, the User Interaction Designer will be responsible for fully articulating detailed user interaction and interface design specifications and driving his or her work through the software development process. A strong candidate will exhibit the ability to create and present design solutions to internal and external audiences and have demonstrated experience in usability testing and test analysis.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the design of the user interaction, interface elements, and creation and maintenance of interaction and style guides for Autodesk’s portfolio of Autocad Building Systems products
• Design and validate user interaction models by proposing and testing concepts, workflows and wire frame designs
• Assist Product Designers with the validation of feature briefs, conceptual designs, prototypes, and specifications with customers and prospects in target markets
• Research the usability of proposed features by coordinating and facilitating usability tests and customer interaction events
• Develop interactive prototypes and documentation to aid development in the implementation of proposed user models
• Lead usability test design for new and modified features, writing use cases, determining test-subject criteria, survey and questionnaire creation, and heuristic evaluations
• Perform quantitative data analysis from usability tests
• Write qualitative and quantitative usability test analysis reports and present results and lead usability test debriefings
• Collect and reports usability trends and gathers ongoing customer satisfaction data
• Track development issues and drive closure of usability projects
• Maintain familiarity with other Autodesk products to ensure compatibility with proposed features
• Consult with others in the division and company on user interaction design as required

Requirements:

• Intense customer focus and orientation and an understanding of the building industry customer
• A portfolio demonstrating superior design skills and experience in the design of graphically intensive applications is required
• Verbal and written fluency in the English language is required
• Strong verbal visual, and written communication skills
• A demonstrated understanding of statistical analysis techniques
• Ability to solve complex problems
• Work independently, manage multiple tasks, and set priorities
• Interact with and influence others effectively
• Focus on execution and an ability to drive decisions

Desired Knowledge/Skills:

• Experience in the design of building industry applications
• An advanced degree in a related field is a plus

Work/Educational Experience:
• 5 plus years experience in usability test design and moderation
• 5 plus years experience in the design and documentation of user interaction and interface elements
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field is required
