We are assembling a fast moving team to publish an ongoing series of innovative high-quality accessory applications for Windows. We will work with a wide range of partners both internal and external.
Our Design Manager will drive visual style, UI design, and audio content of our software at every stage of development in collaboration with our internal teams and 3rd party partners. She/he will ensure all creative and functional elements are appropriately consistent across the diverse set of mini-applications.
Additional shared responsibilities include functional design, overall product vision, generating new ideas, and prototyping. This is a core team leadership position but not a direct people management job. Some travel to work with our external partners will be required.
Required qualifications include:
· Exceptional people skills. You are a team player and love working collaboratively. You can work proactively with multiple stakeholders
· Outstanding UI and visual design skills. Must be able to work effectively at multiple levels, from creating clear design goals to balancing intricate functional mechanics
· Expertise at managing multiple projects simultaneously
· Effective verbal, written and visual communication skills
· Ship discipline and experience with rapid production
· Proactive problem-solving
· Experience managing projects with external vendors
· Familiarity with other Microsoft products, product interfaces, competitor's interfaces, or other industry standards/trends
· Proficiency with Windows and typical graphics tools including Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Freehand.
Additional qualifications desired:
· Global design sensibility and familiarity with localization issues
· Ability to build low and high-fidelity design prototypes in HTML, Flash, or Director
· Concept Sketching, Story Boarding, 3D modeling, 2D animation, 3D animation, Audio
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Art, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or related field and/or equivalent work experience of 5+ years including management of designers.
