Deb Hester & Associates seeks a qualified Human Factors Engineer to join Axiom's growing team immediately for an exciting customer support opportunity in Boise, Idaho.
Primary Function
Provide technical support services and direction for HFE usability awareness, testing, training and documentation of usability test operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide product designers and process engineers with
technical information on HFE principles
Integrate HFE principles into product and process design
Perform task analysis and customer field studies to generate
new:
o Web design concepts
o User-interface requirements
Generate and test for usability regarding:
o Web design prototypes
o Support content
Create a level of usability awareness resulting in
continuous design process improvements
Remain current with HFE and cognitive principles curriculum
Perform training, documentation, development and testing
activities
Work with project and product managers to set usability goals
Work with internal clients to determine the scope of tests
and programs related to HFE principles
Design usability studies, focus groups, contextual
inquiries, and heuristic evaluations resulting in comparable standard, consistent measures
Perform data analysis of test results to produce final report
Report usability test data within ten working days of the
completion of usability tests in a "presentation style" format
Minimum Requirements
MS / CS, HFE or Psychology
2 years of related experience
2 years of experience with web development
Experience designing, developing, conducting and analyzing
usability tests
Experience with compiling technical reports based on test
results
In-depth knowledge of HFE principles relevant to User
Interface design
In-depth knowledge of website usability evaluation techniques
Expertise in user-centric:
o Website design processes
o Perception and cognition techniques
o Experimentation
o Statistics
Ability to drive new ideas and concepts
Ability to work effectively in a multi-functional, multi-
cultural environment
Prototyping skills using rapid development methodology
Ability to gather and analyze data and express ideas
effectively
Ability to be effective, organized and prepared in a
changing work environment
