Information Architect

Homestore, Inc. is a leading supplier of media and technology solutions that promote and connect Real Estate Professionals to consumers before, during and after a move. We offer users a convenient, one-stop source for Everything Home on the Internet including the most comprehensive online database of property listings and real estate service providers, virtual tours, photos, resources, advice, decision support tools, and much more.

We are seeking an Information Architect to join our Consumer Media team. Help take Homestore in an exciting new direction, working on new initiatives and products!

As the Information Architect, you will collaborate with product management, marketing, technology, creative and business development teams to gather requirements and feedback for creating new web product concepts and refining existing websites on the Homestore network, and then work to formally design site structure, labeling and navigation for those web products.

Responsibilities:

- Creates working sitemaps for all projects that will require creative or interface modifications; rough wireframes showing page content and labeling requirements; content inventories for sites; user flow diagrams and use ; conceptual, behavior and interaction models for use in requirements definition.

- Defines site architecture, user flow, structure & labeling conventions

- Compiles and organizes site content; creates and/or maintains site content inventories & sitemaps

- Requirements definition: coordinates with business systems analysts and project management to gather requirements and documentation, persona development, use case creation

- Assists in usability testing of sitemaps, wireframes and paper prototypes

- Ensures usability best practices as applies to user flow & information organization

- Coordinates with creative team, project team and engineering to ensure that the sitemap and wireframes are properly executed in the live site

Qualifications:

- Formal training in information or interaction design; bachelor’s or advanced degree in graphic or information design, library science, HCI, human factors or related fields preferred.

- At least 3 years experience designing functionality for high-traffic consumer or e-commerce Web sites; practical experience working in a user-centered design structure.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and HTML editing tools

- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and a passion for clear, simple UI design

- Must have a critical eye for detail while understanding the big picture.

- Must be organized, able to act independently, and able to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

- Proven ability to work and coordinate with multiple groups, including designers, technical teams, user design teams, sales and marketing.

- Previous experience with usability, UI design or paper prototyping is a plus.
