General Description:
The Lead, Web Designer (I) has the responsibility for project design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Motricity's consumer website(s), email creative, online promotions and corporate marketing materials. This individual will support the design team to ensure on-schedule publishing of all content. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrated in various media including online and print. The candidate must have an understanding of web layout, end user usability issues, and intuitive navigation schemes.

Primary Competency:
Strong Interaction/Web Design, Graphic Design, Concept-based Design and Typography

Secondary Competency:
Print Design

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic design professional possessing demonstrated experience in an Interactive Studio or internal Marketing Services Department.

Duties and Responsibilies
Essential Functions:
Create design concepts that support consistent messaging and branding across the company, product and campaigns.
The ability to deliver under tight deadlines, work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once.
Insure all content enhances Motricity's brand(s) and meets specifications before publication, including performing functional testing and debugging of online features.
Assist in the creation of a Motricity Style Guide with standards for all corporate, product identity, CSS/developer tools, and marketing messaging
Monitoring sites for content and display issues, assess and resolve issues, managing the creation, publishing and archiving of all content.
Actively improve the standard of image compression across consumer sites, optimizing for smaller files and improved image quality.
Supportive design, quality control and documentation of design standards
Comprehensive knowledge of web design and print production

Other Duties & Responsibilities:
Be creative as well as technical; and flexible as priorities and strategies change.
Keep documentation of competitive creative (emails, websites, etc.)


Essential Requirements
An undergraduate level degree in graphic design, BFA
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Marketing Services, Interactive Design Studio or Advertising.
Expert Adobe Design Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator etc.
Experience in advanced CSS, XHTML and Dreamweaver. Flash
Skilled with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
Graphic Design for print and web
Competent time management
Designs iteratively
Able to follow basic creative direction, creative briefs
Able to work independently and follow instruction
Competent problem-solving skills as applied to business need.
Ability to work well in a cross-function, multi-team environment.
Positive disposition

Desirable
Art School BFA or more
5+ years experience
Full Adobe suite of Products, Flash, Basic to Intermediate HTML
Understanding of Typographic Standards
Sensitive to Information Architecture and Usability Concerns
Collaborative, patient, open to change.
Able to present design solutions and to articulate decision making process as it pertains to design work.
