Researcher wanted for IT University and Viktoria Institute in Göteborg, Sweden
We are looking for a researcher for a fulltime position, divided as 50% at IT University of Gothenburg and 50% at the Future Applications Lab at the Viktoria Institute, for a period of 1 year, starting September 1, 2005 (or slightly later depending on practical circumstances).
Applicants should have a completed Ph.D., with a track record of high-quality publications, and with experience from some or all of the following fields: ubiquitous and mobile computing, human-computer interaction, computer support for collaborative work, and computer-supported learning. Some project management experience is also desirable.
The ITU part of the position will be in the project Integrating Mobile Devices and Interactive Workspaces for Design Thinking, which is a collaboration with the HCI Group at Stanford University. It is sponsored by the Wallenberg Global Learning Network and aims to develop new mobile aids for education.
(http://www.wgln.org/projects/index.html) The IT University was established in 2001 and has about 1000 students at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is situated in the campus area on beautiful Lindholmen, in Göteborg.

The other part will be as a researcher at the Future Applications Lab, conveniently located next door to ITU on Lindholmen, which currently has 6 members (one senior and 5 Ph.D. students). The lab develops innovative concepts and prototypes for future IT products, and is prominent in several research fields including ubiquitous computing and interaction design. Current project themes include digital photography, mobile music and embodied agents. The Viktoria Institute is funded by a number of individual Swedish and European sources, and has recently become part of the larger Swedish IT Research Institute which also includes SICS, Interactive Institute and Santa Anna Institute.
