PURPOSE:
The Business Analyst is responsible translating high-level product requirements into detailed use cases for software development. This position will work within a cross-functional team to document the user experience, product taxonomy, layout, and navigation.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Define and translate business requirements into concepts for compelling interactions and experiences for the instructional technology market.
· Represent the user experience through development of related use cases, process flows, and detailed usability specifications. Will specify how users locate information by defining the products navigation, labeling, and search mechanisms.
· Ensure that both functional & non-functional usability requirements are met through the use of information architecture practices.
· Establish and ensure that SEGMT processes and methodologies are employed in all aspects of a project. Specifically, in the creation and review of detailed design specifications for compliance to the stakeholder requirements and product feature artifacts.
· Work with editorial groups and other functional areas of Media Technology, to produce high quality digital products that serve the market place. Participate in project meetings when appropriate.
OTHER REQUIRED ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Elicit requirements from project stakeholders.
· Create and revise use cases.
· Trace use cases to system features.
· Create UML diagrams.
· Develop content maps / taxonomies.
· Create page schematics (wireframes / storyboards).
· Create demonstrative prototypes.
· Participate in user research, concept testing, and usability testing.
· Exercise strong project management skills by ensuring project objectives are on time. Must also exercise strong presentation, and communication skills.
· Regularly apprise and consult with Manager of Business Analysis and on key issues, significant variation from schedules, and potential conflicts in a proactive manner.
· Consult with management as needed in evaluating business analysis tools to help establish standards for Requirements Management and enhance performance of media product.
· Maintaining working knowledge of current technologies.
· Responsible for the simultaneous development of multiple initiatives.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager of Business Analysis.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree.
· Experience working in print publishing or the K-12 education market.
· Ability to communicate both abstract and detailed information to varied audiences
· Minimum 3+ years experience writing UML case documentation (Activity diagrams, textual and graphical use cases).Prefer experience with Rational Unified Process
· Minimum 5+ years working as business or systems analyst
· Working knowledge of XML, web services, Java programming, Java Servlets, JSP and J2EE.
· Good understanding of the difference between business and system requirements
· Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
