Position Title Director, User Experience & Design for Communications
You will be responsible for managing the Communications User Experience
and Design (UED) group. You will manage a team of 20 UED professionals
responsible for crafting the User Experience of some of Companys most
critical products ? including most notably Company Mail, Messenger,
Photos as well as Companys advancing implementation regarding VoIP.
Your success will depend upon having the vision, execution, leadership
and collaborative team spirit that will separate you from the pack, and
Company from the competition's

asynchronous communication?

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide creative direction and leadership to deliver on the
overarching Communication products objectives resulting in high quality
user experiences
- Bring great people management skills and mentorship to a team of
interaction design, visual design, design management and design
research specialists. Deliver performance reviews; provide management
goals by objective; determine compensation and career growth
- Understand the needs of internal and external customers, the business,
and the competitive landscape. Translate this understanding into a
user experience design strategy which meets the needs of users, the
business and fulfills the Company Brand promise.
- Coordinate the activities of the team with other key departments,
ensuring accurate and highly professional communications, coordination,
and collaboration at all times.
- Oversee projects running concurrently on multiple tracks from planning
through launch in a very multitasking interdisciplinary culture.
- Effectively manage shared resource schedules for optimum productivity
and efficiency
- Ensure successful knowledge sharing among both Communications and User
Experience Design teams.
Education and Experience
- Excellent grasp of the competitive and economic dimensions of the
VoIP, messenger, mail and online photos space desirable.
- Extensive experience defining and developing consumer web applications
at all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Must communicate clearly and effectively; strong analytical and oral
communication skills; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills;
able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team.
- Strong matrix management skills
- Proactive customer oriented individual
- Highly organized and able to switch rapidly between different projects
in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
- At least 5 years experience leading a large web site design effort
with other designers and/or managing a design team
- At least 10-15 years' experience in product design, visual design,
interaction design, Human Factors, HCI, industrial design, or related
area
- MBA and/or MFA desirable
You will be a leader in one of the largest and most established User
Experience groups in the industry; collaborating and sharing your
knowledge with the over 100 staff from the following disciplines;
interaction design, visual design, design research and design
management.
