Responsibilities:
· Responsible for evaluating and assisting in the development of new toys and products, especially toys with an interactive and/or learning focus.
· Conduct product test sessions with children during key milestones of the development cycle, from conceptualization to final product.
· Collaborate with project teams to develop the content, interface, and game flow of interactive and/or learning toys.
· Provide products with information on general child development, education and curriculum, interactive design, play, and game design.
· Facilitate group discussions with parents to gather their opinions of new product ideas and to better understand issues that are important to them.
· Facilitate creative problem solving sessions with product teams to develop innovative products in the most timely and cost effective manner.
· Evaluate current and upcoming technologies, software, and electronic toys for age appropriateness, appeal, educational value, and play applications.
· Keep up to date on current trends in the toy industry and related fields.
Skills:
· Strong knowledge of child development, education, interactive design, and research (e.g., evaluation, usability testing).
· Excellent rapport with children as well as keen observation skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels and ability to function in a team environment.
· Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to determine solutions and carry out actions in an effective and timely manner.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize work without missing critical deadlines.
· Creative problem-solving skills along with an overall high energy level.
Education/Experience:
· Masters degree in developmental psychology, educational psychology, early childhood or related field. Ph.D. is preferred.
· Minimum of 5-7 years experience evaluating, researching, and/or developing curricula, interface, and content for children’s interactive media or related products.
· Experience in toy industry a plus.
· Exemplary attendance and job performance.
