POSITION TITLE: Sr/Princ (Lead) UI Designer #1 Exp with Enterprise Software

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Oracle's Usability Organization was recently decentralized along business lines, creating several new open positions and opportunities. We are seeking talented UI Designers, who will creatively contribute to the next generation of business application software.
Join exciting research and development teams – teams who are respected industry-wide for their creativity and technology contributions to software usability. As an Oracle designer you will collaborate with other researchers to discover and understand Oracle users’ task and job requirements, usage profiles, and customer needs. You will utilize a mix of conceptual, interaction, and graphics design skills. As a member of a multidisciplinary development team you will spearhead user interface design in conceptualization, design, and development of Oracle Applications.
You will need to evangelize UI design directions and resolve design tradeoffs and implementation issues.
In addition, as a senior/princ designer you will have the opportunity to mentor junior designers and student interns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience: 7 years of product UI design experience. A track record of delivering end-to-end designs for a significant feature or application related to enterprise software, data center automation, or application management. Experience in Information Architecture is a plus.
* Degree/Major: BS/MS degree in UI design or computer science.
Extensive experience in both technology and design are required.
* Must have a design portfolio for review, including requirements documents, screen designs, architecture diagrams, and other related information architecture and user interface design artifacts
* Technology: The ability to understand complex, distributed systems, and speak on a highly technical level with programmers.
Experience with designing and implementing web-based interfaces is required. *Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, DHTML and CSS a plus.
* Design: Knowledge of how to design for web applications and an ability to demonstrate this knowledge. *The ability to design new user interfaces and extensions to existing interfaces for complex systems. This includes doing detailed analysis, and the experience to question existing designs and paradigms and provide innovative solutions.
* You will need to be able to mock up designs, so you need a working knowledge of tools like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Visio.
* Communications: Excellent spoken and written English skills.
