JOB DESCRIPTION:
Oracle's Usability Organization was recently decentralized along business lines, creating several new open positions and opportunities. We are looking for senior level experienced Usability Engineers to join Oracle's expanding worldwide Applications User Experience Group – engineers, who will drive user research for complex enterprise applications that provide analysis and decision support to global businesses.
You will be working within a multidisciplinary development team, championing customer interests, and contributing during product definition, design, and development. Specific responsibilities include planning, designing and executing usability evaluations of software development applications. Working closely with development teams, plan and conduct customer research (e.g., surveys, site visits, conference site focus groups). You will work closely with interface designers & visual designers to validate interface design prototypes, facilitate the development of those prototypes, as well as resolving trade offs between alternative design concepts. You will be working with Oracle’s senior usability managers, all well published leaders in the field _ leaders, who will encourage you to publish as well.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree in Social, Cognitive, Experimental or Industrial Psychology, Human Factors or Human Computer Interaction with a
solid foundation in experimental design, behavioral statistics, and human information processing theory.
* Experience applying customer-centered design methods to product development
* At least 2 years professional experience in the software industry
* Plus an additional 3 years, Human Factors job experience in an industrial setting in the areas of gathering user requirements, scenario development, conducting usability evaluations, and questionnaire/survey design
* Strong communication and inter-personal skills honed through years of working in multi-disciplinary, collaborative teams
* Knowledge of database technologies, web services, or programming knowledge (e.g., Java, DHTML) highly desirable.
