Fluid, Inc. (http://www.fluid.com/) is looking for a full-time, salaried junior information designer/architect to do cutting-edge interface work for globally-recognized brands.
Fluid designs and develops richly interactive digital retail experiences, both online and offline. Our clients include The North Face, Design Within Reach, JanSport, Microsoft, Timberland, and Reebok.
Our projects are varied and exciting, and our staff is truly unique with a vibrant culture and a passion for innovation.
Your job will be to conceptualize and architect the next generation of consumer experiences. You’ll create the “design behind the design” for websites, applications, and other digital experiences, including taxonomies, design research, user profiles, test personas, user flows and use-case scenarios, site and product architectures, usability test planning and implementation, high-level interaction design, information design, and wireframe screen schematics, as project needs require.
Usability theory and best practices fuel your decisions, balanced with our clients’ business needs and their user’s goals.
Fluid will support you with some of the top-flight visual designers and some of the smartest (and most creative) technologists and engineers in the known universe. Fluid has a boutique studio atmosphere to make your work fun and focused; we also have access to all manner of advanced technologies to bring your work to fruition.
If you’re our kind of information designer/architect, you’ll have been formally schooled in design, information science, library science, engineering, psychology, human factors, or HCI. You’ll have one to three years of experience doing information architecture, information design, and/or usability work on the job salary will vary based on experience.
Of course, you have to know the tools of the trade. Expertise in Microsoft Visio 2003 is a requirement, and knowledge of supporting tools is a big bonus: Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, Flash and Dreamweaver are all big plusses.
Your attention to detail will be admired by your peers. Your communication skills will be envied by your friends and valued by those who’ve worked with you in the past. You’ll also be into putting in the focused hours needed to make sure every project we ship is elegantly architected, functionally sound, and emotively on-brand. And, above all, you’ll be able to balance that professional demeanor with a sense of humor.
We hope that’s you.
Please email your portfolio URL, a letter of interest, and resume detailing your specific background, to jobs-1229@fluid.com. Tell us a little about yourself and how you approach the discipline of design.
We’ll take a look and contact you.
