The Hartford in Hartford, CT is looking for User Experience Designers.
This full time position will play an essential role in defining the user experience of The Hartford's eBusiness Technology Solutions. We are looking for logical, analytic problem solvers that can synthesize many forms of research into informational, navigational and user interface designs.
The candidate should have:
- Experience performing all user interface design skills: user interaction, information architecture and visual/graphic design; with particular emphasis on user interaction design. Experience creating user interface design prototypes: from wireframes to interactive prototypes.
Experience writing detailed user interface design specifications.
- Problem-solving skills and creativity. Expert understanding of UI design languages, their capabilities, and how to use them fully and effectively (HTML, DHTML, XML, CSS, Flash, etc). Understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues. Experience in client side scripting such as JavaScript. Experience with Dreamweaver is highly desired.
- Ability to work and coordinate with multiple groups, product managers, and developers. Ability to guide teams in brainstorming and gathering / organization of project requirements.
- An understanding of User Centered Design principals, and UCD activities such as:
- End user research - hypothesis testing, surveys, competitor analysis, etc.
- Task analysis, contextual inquiry
- End user profiling
- Usability testing
- Ability to quickly learn new business areas/functions.
- At least 5 years of professional UI design experience. Bachelors or higher degree (preferably in Design, Human Factors, or Computer Science).
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?
- Working with project teams to design user interfaces utilizing User Centered Design techniques.
- UI prototyping
- Creating detailed UI specifications
- Designing the entire user experience as it relates to a particular project
