User Interaction Designer

Employees in the Desktop Platforms group focus on designing and delivering solutions for the desktop PC, including processors, chipsets, motherboards, software and services.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will be working as part of a cross-disciplined team and synthesize user research, market data, product design, and engineering requirements into effective user experiences. Work product will include highly visual and inspiring communication pieces to convey the human interactions with hardware and software products. Formats will include screen-based samples and written specifications that describe the design intent and implementation path and prototypes to demonstrate usages and product concepts. The prototypes will include interaction architectures, wire frame layouts, end user graphics, typography, and mock-ups for all user interaction elements. You will also be working with the project team to develop scenarios and flow chart the user experience. As a member of the User Centered Design studio, you will be expected to play an active role in all aspects of the design process including identification of user needs, requirements definition, storyboarding, prototyping and iterative end user validation of product concepts and user experiences.
Qualifications
You should preferably possess a degree in one of the following degrees:
Human Factors Engineering, Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Design with minimum of three years professional work experience in interactive end-user focused design. Additional qualifications include:
- Ability to bridge the gap between innovative Software and Hardware design and create synergy between the two design spaces and can provide examples of out of the box, innovative thinking and design
- Passion for end-user experience design and an understanding of the entire product design process including strategy, engineering development, and production rollout
- Current with interactive and visual design trends, your impact on software design and end user interaction, and your implications for the design and development of enterprise and consumer software
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage and convey ideas to technical and non-technical teammates
- Well developed skills in flow charting user experience, data visualization, typography/layout (wire framing), sketching (story boarding, scenarios, rough layouts, mock-ups), and user interaction design (icons, interface elements), and experience with interactive media tools (Macromedia Director*, Flash*, PhotoShop*, Illustrator*, HTML, and others). Video creation/editing skills are a big plus.
