SUMMARY:
John Lewis is the UK's largest department store group with 27 department stores offering the widest range of choice available from
any British retailer. The physical stores are complemented by an
online and catalogue channels run by John Lewis Direct.
Due to the aggressive growth in our business we are looking for an additional Web Analyst. This individual will be part of a small team (within the IT and web design department) that is responsible for empirically driving forward improvements to the functionality,
customer experience and conversion of the web site.
This is a one year contract only.
Salary up to £35k.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned).
1. Empirical specification of web site functionality changes
(i.e. how the web site function should work, how the data that should be displayed, the sequence of events, etc).
2. Analysis of data from web analytics systems, usability
testing, surveys, focus groups, etc.
3. Analysis of other retail websites - both local competitors and
globally.
4. Ownership and control of the web site experience - the focal
point for questions and changes regarding the web site functionality and usability.
5. Organisation of usability testing.
This role is NOT graphical design, IT development or content development.
The role requires a team player with self-confidence, assertiveness and personal motivation. Excellent analysis skills, a creative approach toproblem solving and an in-depth interest in web sites and
online retailing are all essential. Everything must be considered
from the viewpoint of current and potential John Lewis customers.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
It is important that all applicants have knowledge and experience in the following areas.
* Web site functional design & usability.
* Web site technologies (HTML, Web Browsers, etc.).
* Business process analysis skills.
* Usability testing.
The following skills would also be of benefit but training will be provided if required.
* Accessibility design and testing.
* Web analysis tools (e.g. Omniture SiteCatalyst).
* Web site data structures.
* External search optimisation techniques.
