DESCRIPTION
Thomson Legal & Regulatory (TLR) is a leading provider of integrated information solutions to legal, tax, accounting, intellectual property, compliance, business and government professionals around the world.
Thomson West, a division of TLR, is seeking a Classification Model Developer to join the Ontology team. This individual will develop and maintain classification models that are used to index business information and news documents via an automated process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Create and maintain Bayesian, Keyword and Boolean models using the Stratify Discovery System™.
* Create and maintain hierarchical databases of searches using both the Stratify Discovery System™ and proprietary software.
* Conduct model optimization and ongoing model validation.
* Create and maintain Precision and Recall metrics.
* Perform ongoing quality assurance and quality control of Ontology Assets.
* Continually expand and augment classification models.
* Respond to customer facing issues relating to model quality.
* Develop internal documentation to detail processes and standard operating procedures.
* Provide general Ontology assistance to Thomson West as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree in Computer or Information Science strongly preferred.
Minimum 4 years professional experience.
* 2 years experience with taxonomies and document classification processes.
* Strong development skills in classification model creation using keyword
and complex boolean structures. Knowledge of Bayesian modeling.
* Extensive experience with automated classification and extraction engines.
* Experience with online database searching.
* Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills.
* Broad topic knowledge and skills at synthesizing and organizing subject matter.
* Extremely detail oriented.
* Ability to work independently. Comfortable with providing self- motivation and initiative.
