As a Senior Interaction Designer/Manager for TI’s Educational & Productivity Solutions (E&PS) organization, you’ll provide leadership in the planning and execution of user interfaces. This role involves everything from task analysis and conceptual design to prototyping, testing, specifying, and communicating GUI guidelines. You’ll also work to develop creative solutions at different stages of the design process.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Interacting with all functions of the business, including business strategy leaders, project managers, system architects, product marketing managers, and industrial designers throughout the product design cycle to achieve business objectives.
Applying your experience and expertise in user-centered design, contextual design, and usability engineering methodologies to achieve best-in- class "ease of use" in our small-screen handheld device and desktop software solutions.
Researching and evaluating new methodologies.
Mentoring team members and cross-functional business teams.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in the areas of project management, people management and usability engineering – a.k.a. Human- Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, and/or User-Centered Design (UCD).
7+ years of industry experience (including 2+ years leading an UCD team)
in UI development applying UCD methodologies, including designing, specifying, prototyping, evaluating and testing user interfaces, is needed. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in user-centered design techniques, including creating user profiles, task analysis, articulating conceptual models of complex user tasks, and planning, conducting, and summarizing usability studies is a must.
This manager must be experienced in designing small screen device GUIs and desktop software applications for multiple platforms. An expert command of interface guidelines for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Palm, Java, Internet, and other platforms is needed.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate with, lead, and/or work productively in a multidisciplinary team environment, are a must. Don’t let this outstanding opportunity pass you by!
