/ DESCRIPTION
Our 20+ strong team of cross-disciplined designers work on the complete range of consumer products - mobiles, MP3 players, PMP's, Camcorders, microwaves, DVD players, set-top boxes, printers, and new product innovations.
We are looking to expand the interaction team with a senior designer / 'hands on' design manager to help develop robust, elegant and intuitive physical UI solutions and undertake UI focused research working closely with product, interface, and graphic designers.
This would be achieved by working closely with fellow designers / external agencies in London and worldwide.
Their main roles will included:
- Contribute to defining the companies global and European UI design strategies and design languages.
- Develop designs for new physical interaction approaches and technologies that can be used for prototyping and testing.
- Research, identify, analyze and communicate design and market information in Europe.
-Ensuring that HQ receives regular reports on current PUI design issues and future trends.
- Develop a network of external consultancies / individuals to assist in project / research undertakings.
- Develop self-initiated projects in order to provide European focused new way of using products.
/ EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 - 8 years hands-on experiences in interface design and user testing with sound knowledge of design process.
- Must demonstrate understanding of how interaction design, graphics and technology work together to produce an integrated user experience.
- Ability to plan and manage the entire research and design project process.
- Ability to work and communicate with other design and business functions.
- Experience in human factors, human behaviour, field observations & ethnographic research
/ EDUCATION
- BA or MA in product design, multi-media design, interaction design, psychology, human factors, ergonomics, cognitive science or related degree.
- Excellent written and spoken English
Interest /experience in graphic design.
/ SKILLS
Must demonstrate creative and innovative approach to design.
Knowledge of current design software and techniques. (MMD, Flash, Final Cut, CS suite, Visio, Omnigraffe etc).
Enthusiasm for working as part of small but growing team and appreciation of the issues involved in collaboration with colleagues who may not have English as a first language.
The position is based in central London.
