User Interface Designer
The User Interface Designer will be responsible for all aspects of the user experience design, including information architecture, interaction design, visual design and usability for the company web applications and web sites, which include a premier global online survey software. Reporting to the Director of Customer Experience, the User Interface Designer will collaborate with Product Managers, Marketing Managers, and Software Engineers in the continual innovation of the product lines.
Responsibilities
Collaborating with product teams to advise on product direction and the definition of new innovative features for web sites and web applications
Applying user-centered design processes to create high quality user experiences
Designing interaction models, workflows, information architectures, and user interfaces
Producing detailed user interface specifications
Creating paper/interactive prototypes for user and market research
Creating and maintaining user experience design best practices and guidelines
Requirements
BS/BA or MS/MFA degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or equivalent work experience
At least 3 years of experience in interaction design of Web applications in a formal software development environment
Solid understanding of UCD principles and interaction design skills
Visual/graphical interface design skills
Ability to provide portfolio examples of relevant interaction design work and written specifications
Ability to work collaboratively with other designers and team members; receptive to feedback and direction from others
Extreme detail orientation, and an obsession for accuracy and consistency
Clear, organized written and oral communication and presentation skills
Excellent analytical skills including task analysis and use-case creation
Understanding of underlying technical concepts
Experience creating prototypes using Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and/or Flash
Basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS
The company is a privately held, profitable, technology and services market research company located in Mill Valley. We are planning to move to downtown San Francisco somewhere near the Embarcadero by the end of Q1 2006.
