In a nutshell, what does company do?
Market research and creating the software that helps to accomplish this.

How many employees? Funding?
Around 300 with 100+ of the people in India. It is a private company.
The company has been profitable for over three years and they are targeting going public at the end of next year.

What are the selling points / value proposition for the company?
Great team, small team, innovative software development, great environment/place to work.
Plan to move from Mill Valley, CA to SF location near Spear street in SF by the end of the first quarter in 2006.


JOB SPECIFIC

What does your technical environment consist of?
Tools used for Visual & UI Design.

The products that the UI Designers will be focus on will include the following:
The Product is a Multi-tier application.
JSP & HTML for the User Interface. Servlet Exec for the Web Server. SQL Server DB.
DB runs on 10gigabytes – HUGE DB to store all the market data.

Product is broken down into a few different areas including: Survey Design, Survey Taking/data collection, Data Processing
to analyze results & to a lesser degree Reporting. Zoomerang is a C#/.NET web based/hosted self-service survey tool.

There is also a Panel Management software of lesser complexity and importance.

This is used for Market Research companies to maintain the huge DB of market research participants and demographic info.

What will be this person’s primary responsibilities? Who will they report to? Working with?
UI & Visual Design for software products. One UI Designer will focus on the product and the Panel Management System, and
the other will focus on the other product. The UI Designer will be responsible for defining the UI guidelines for all new features (all products are undergoing a huge redesign).
This is a great opportunity if someone has an interest in owning the redesign of a software product!!!

Will work with other UI Designers, Technical Product Managers, QA Manager and people in Engineering who are in the “huddle team” for the specific product that the UI Designer will be focusing on.
want a UI/Visual Designer who has a broad range of skills working in a FORMAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT environment on Software Applications.

Of the listed skills/qualities, what are the 3 most important things?
1) Extremely strong software application User Interface Design experience
2) Strong Visual Design experience
3) someone who is extremely collaborative, excited to work at MarketTools, and who will enjoy working in a small team.

Person needs to have confidence in their work but also be able to work in a collaborative environment.
