Strong 3D Cad skills required. Good sketching would be a bonus.

4. Full Job description

Description
European design studio for Global Electronics company, based in Central London in newly built studio. Our main aims are to understand European users and implement appropriate design solutions accordingly.

Our 20+ strong team of cross-disciplined designers work on the complete range of consumer products - mobiles, MP3 players, camcorders, microwaves, DVD players, set-top boxes, printers, and new product innovations.


Main roles and responsibilities:
Initial concept generation and new product ideas, defining chosen routes through detail design including 3D modelling.

Creation of the design documentation necessary to convey the solutions to management and other business functions through sketches, renderings, models, mechanical drawings and written reports.

In addition, Wireless Product Design team members determine materials, construction, mechanisms, shape, colour, surface finish and manufacturing processes in cooperation with other business functions that are involved in the new product development process.

Liaison with Telecoms team members in other parts of the world on a day to day level, as well as technical sessions and formal presentations.

Develop self-initiated projects.

Skills
* The candidate must have strong visual style with a distinct
flair.
* Must demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to
design.
* Strong 3D skills are needed (Alias Studio Tools or similar),
with an aptitude for learning 3D packages including IDEAS and Unigraphics.
* Good sketching ability and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in relevant design software and presentation
techniques (e.g. Graphite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.)
* A good awareness and interest in materials and finishes, and
an interest in what's new and interesting related to product design.
* The candidate must be full of fresh ideas and alternate
approaches along with energy and enthusiasm to help boost the team's profile.
* Ability to work and communicate with other design and
business functions.

Experience
Ideally the applicant will have around 3-4 years experience, at strong middleweight design level. Knowledge of mass production techniques would be a bonus.

Education
BA or MA in product or industrial design.
Excellent written and spoken English.

The position is based in central London.
