Wireless UI Designer
Senior UI Designer required with at least 4 years experience of UI design, research and testing for mobile devices and a good understanding of how UI design and other disciplines contribute to a whole product experience.
4. Full Job description
Content of the Role:
- Develop innovative user experiences within an integrated
'total product experience' approach.
- Develop information architecture for mobile interfaces.
- Design widget interactions for mobile interfaces.
- Research and analyze European User Interface and technology
trends.
- Research mobile user behaviour
- Follow developments in usability and apply best practice to
mobile interface design work.
- Plan, design and execute usability tests and user research.
- Contribute to development of research and testing strategy.
- Generate simple and enchanting User Interface concepts and
designs.
- Develop UI design collateral including Menu trees, Flow
charts (Workflows, Scenarios) and UI specifications for communication to other groups within the company.
- Collaborate with and support those who need to use and act
on this design collateral, e.g. Software Engineers, Graphic Designers, Product Planning, Product Marketing etc.
- To investigate & prototype new design solutions.
- To contribute to the design of user tests and user research.
- To work collaboratively with Graphic designers to create a
coherent and consistent user experience.
Requirements for the Role:
- BA or MA in Multi media design, Interaction Design,
Psychology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, Cognitive Science or related degree.
- Minimum of 4-6 years hands-on experience in interface design
and user testing with sound knowledge of design process
- Experience of working with large multi-national companies or
well-known design consultancies, e.g. Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Vodafone, Orange, IDEO, Apple
- Must have small LCD interface design experience.
- Must demonstrate creative and innovative approach to design.
- Must demonstrate understanding of how interaction design,
graphics and technology work together to produce an integrated user
experience.
- Ability to work and communicate with other design and
business functions.
- Knowledge of current design software and techniques. (MMD,
Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, Omnigraffe etc.)
- Experience in Human Factors, Behavioural Research, field
observations & ethnographic research desirable
- Interest /Experience in Graphic Design.
- Enthusiasm for working as part of small but growing team and
appreciation of the issues involved in collaboration with colleagues who may not have English as a first language.
The position is based in central London.
